On Saturday 12th September, James Britton and friends will be taking on an incredible 63-mile Humber Tri Challenge to help raise vital funds for Forward at The Bridges rehabilitation centre in Hull!
What is The Humber Tri Challenge?
Supported by The Humber Rescue, the challenge will see Team Bridges swimming 1.6 miles, followed by a 48-mile bike ride to Faxfleet, and lastly a 13-mile run back to the Humber Bridge.
This challenge is truly a test of strength and endurance which requires relentless training. James was recently interviewed on BBC Radio Humberside to discuss this. You can listen here (20min:50s)
Keep up to date with the team's training and challenge news on Facebook and follow live on the day..! #GoTeamBridges.
A few words from James Britton:
"I have known of The Bridges for many years and the work they do, taking offenders with addiction and putting them through a program to help them think differently and take control of their lives. This is inspiring and the results speak for themselves. This is a World class facility in Hull, supported by the local business community and fundraising is crucial.
Knowing the decisions the graduates from The Bridges make every day and those in treatment now I have set this challenge with others that will need the same values to succeed: hard work, training, and self belief in ourselves that we can succeed - and with a good team around we can swim across the mighty Humber river, cycle 50 miles and run the half marathon back to the Humber Bridge completing the challenge to do a good thing... raise money for this superb cause, and to show people that with these values anything is possible."
About The Bridges:

The Bridges’ impact is unrivalled - 68% of the individuals entering the centre complete their full treatment programme (compared to the national completion average of 45%).
Since opening in 2004, The Bridges has supported over 440 men – many of whom have since remained in Hull and have contributed significantly to the strong recovery community in the city.
